YES, the Amsterdam Rollerbasketball Tournament 2010 is set to go. Direct your browser to http://tournament2010.wordpress.com and reserve February 27th as a day of rollerbasketball.

We had trouble booking the Van Hogendorphal this year, so the new proposed date for the next Amsterdam tournament is February 27th, 2010. Still tentative, but stay tuned!

The tournament was, I think, a great success! The new fouling system was greatly appreciated. We had great help from our volunteers to make sure everything happened on time, that everybody knew what to do all the time.

The final was great: between one Amsterdam team and a German team, just as I hoped, really. It was pretty close too: only one point difference at the end (due to a last second three-pointer from Amsterdam).

The schedule is known! Here’s a link to the spreadsheet.

RA1 means “the winner of the Poule A games”. Similarly RB2 means “the number 2 from the Poule B games”. A win in the poule games will give you two points, a draw (pretty rare in rollerbasketball) 1 and a loss 0. If two teams in the same poule have the same number of points, number of baskets difference will count. But we won’t go into nitty gritty of that here.

We had to change the programme a little bit. There’s now a short break of 15 minutes between the poule games and the semi-finals, while we calculate who’ll play who in the semifinals and the other games.

Then between 17:45 and 18:00 there’s another break to prepare the center court for the finals. We hope this delay is not a problem for anybody, but it’s only half an hour extra. We’ll try to run a tight ship and get all the games started on time.

Kareen of the Köln DunkNix has provided a translation of the rules in German. Apparently the Google translation of the rules didn’t make much sense, so this is a great help. Thanks!

The two poules are known! We tried to make them more or less equal, and here they are:

A2: DRIBBL Amsterdam I
A3: Gülser Mosel Skater I
A4: Hot Wheels Hamburg
A5: Survivors Amsterdam

B1: Cologne Dunk Nix
B2: DRIBBL Amsterdam II
B3: Berlin
B4: Braunschweig
B5: Gülser Mosel Skater II

The first part of the day teams from both poules will be playing against each other. So that’s four matches for each team. After that everybody will have at least one more match. The two top teams from each poule even have two extra games: the semifinals and either the final or the match for the third place. The other teams will play against the team at the same position in the other poule.

A game consists of two halves of 10 minutes each. There is a two minute break between halves and 8 minutes to prepare for the next game. If a team is not on the field two minutes after official starting time, they will forfeit the game!

As soon as the full schedule is worked out, we’ll post it here. There are some last-minute tweakings going on.
