Tournament map

Posted by: tournament2008 on: November 2, 2008

Here’s a map of all the relevant tournament locations: the Van Hogendorphal, Pino (where we’re having dinner afterwards) and all the hotels/hostels our German guests are staying at. Some of them are quite far out of the center. Must have been a good deal financially, I guess.

For those wanting to use public transport to get around these distances, check out 9292ov.nl.

Using your car to get around: definitely check out www.bereikbaaramsterdam.nl, because parking is a pain in this city. Near the Van Hogendorphal you pay €2.10 an hour from 9:00-24:00 on a Saturday.

Trophees

We play for fun, sure, but also play to win. Win what? For the three best teams we have the following:

Who wouldn’t want one of these on their mantlepiece?

Braunschweig Bandits

The Braunschweig situation has resolved itself. Stephan from the Hamburg Blade Bandits has graciously offered to join their team. I think a good name for this mixed team would be “Löwenzähne Braunschweig Bandits”, or just “Braunschweig Bandits”. Has a certain ring to it!

Braunschweig down to three

Posted by: tournament2008 on: October 30, 2008

A few days ago Löwenzähne Braunschweig let us know that one of their team mates dropped out, which means they now have only three players, where you need at least four. They’re still coming to Amsterdam though.

The Hamburg Blade Bandit team was unable to come as a complete team this this year, due to injuries of several players. Two players from that team have decided to join the other team from Hamburg: the Hamburg Hot Wheels. We hope we can persuade them to join Braunschweig instead, so we have the full complement of ten teams.

In any case, we have schedules for the situation where we have nine teams and one where we have ten. If we can’t complete the Braunschweig team, we’ll have to persuade other teams to take them on. I hope it doesn’t come to that though! The more teams the better!

If any players on the other teams volunteer to join Löwenzähne Braunschweig please let us know! We only need one!

Introducing the tournament blog

The tournament is almost upon us. To have a single place where I can put all the reports, stats, results, photos and videos that the Amsterdam Rollerbasketball Tournament will generate, I started this blog.
